Programming languages are like girlfriends, you spend a lot of time with one and after some time you want to try another ;). Well, I would say they are even better as you don’t have to give up the old one.
My first language, which I would say cautiously, I’m proficient with, is of course Java but today I have decided to finally try something new.
I am a regular visitor at Dzone – www.dzone.com, and one day I read the entry in one post stating that if you hear about something more than 3 times, go and check it out. Maybe a year or so I’ve been reading a lot here and there about Ruby and Ruby on Rails and today I have bought my first Ruby book to finally started my adventure.
This post is simply a marker. Sometimes people ask me how long I have been programming in Java, and to be frank I have no idea, it can be something about 3 or 4 years. Now, when I started to run a small blog about my programming adventures I mark this day, as the first day with Ruby! If I finally really go into it, this will be at least some reason to celebrate and go for a beer! 🙂
